How to install an IPTV player on a Firestick

There are two ways to get an IPTV player onto a Fire TV: from the Amazon Appstore, or, on Fire OS devices, from the developer’s own download link using the Downloader app. This guide covers both, the settings you need, and how to add your login once the app is installed.

Before you start: Fire OS or Vega OS?

Open SettingsMy Fire TVAbout and look at the software version.

  • Fire OS: you can use either method below.
  • Vega OS (Fire TV Stick 4K Select, Fire TV Stick HD 2026): you can only install from the Appstore. Skip to method 1 and see Vega OS explained.

Method 1: install from the Amazon Appstore

  1. From the home screen, choose Find (the magnifying glass) and search for the player’s name.
  2. Check the developer name on the app’s page, because look-alike apps use similar names and logos.
  3. Choose Get or Download, then Open.

The Appstore is the simplest route, and apps update automatically. VLC, for example, is listed there as VLC for Fire. Many popular IPTV players aren’t, which is why method 2 exists.

Step 1: install Downloader

Search the Appstore for Downloader (the orange icon, by AFTVnews) and install it. The Downloader guide explains what it is and how its codes work.

Step 2: allow Downloader to install apps

Open SettingsMy Fire TVDeveloper optionsInstall unknown apps and switch Downloader on. If you can’t see Developer options, see how to show developer options.

Step 3: download the player from its developer

Open Downloader and enter the address or code published on the developer’s own website. Examples we checked:

PlayerWhere the developer publishes the Fire TV downloadChecked
TiviMatetivimate.com gives the Downloader code 272483 and the address tivimate.com/apkSeptember 2026
IPTVXiptvx.app offers an official installation path for Fire OS devicesSeptember 2026
KodiThe official Kodi wiki explains downloading Kodi from kodi.tv on Fire TVSeptember 2026

Only use codes and links that come from the developer. Sites that imitate well-known players are common.

Step 4: install and tidy up

  1. When the download finishes, choose Install, then Open or Done.
  2. Downloader offers to delete the installation file; choose Delete to save space.
  3. Optionally switch Downloader’s Install unknown apps permission back off.

If the installation fails, see “App not installed” on Fire TV.

Add your login

  1. Open the player and choose to add a playlist, profile or user.
  2. Pick Xtream Codes, M3U or portal, to match the login you were given.
  3. Enter the details exactly. Typing on a Fire TV remote is slow; the free Fire TV mobile app can act as a keyboard. Xtream Codes login explained shows each field.
  4. Let the channel list and TV guide load before you start browsing.

Make it smooth

  • Turn on Match original frame rate in SettingsDisplay & SoundsDisplay for smoother sport.
  • Use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network or an Ethernet adapter. See Fire TV buffering fixes.
  • Keep some storage free. See Fire TV storage full.

FAQ

Installing a player

Is it safe to install apps from outside the Appstore?

It’s as safe as the source. A link on the developer’s own website carries little risk. Links from forums, file-sharing sites and look-alike websites can carry malware. If you can’t trace a link to the developer, don’t use it.

Why can’t I find TiviMate in the Amazon Appstore?

TiviMate is distributed through Google Play and its own website, not the Amazon Appstore. On Fire OS devices, the TiviMate website gives a Downloader code and a download address for its app.

Do I need to turn “Install unknown apps” back off afterwards?

It’s good practice. Once your player is installed, you can switch Downloader’s permission off again, and turn it back on only when you need to install an update manually.
