TiviMate IPTV Player is built around live TV. Instead of tiles and menus, it opens straight into a full-screen channel with a scrolling grid guide, like a satellite or cable box. For people who mainly watch live channels on a big screen, it’s the most comfortable IPTV player available on Android TV and Fire TV.
It’s a media player only: it contains no channels. You add your subscription with an Xtream Codes login or an M3U link.
Where TiviMate runs
TiviMate is made for TV devices:
- Android TV and Google TV boxes, installed from Google Play. See install TiviMate on Google TV and our Android TV box guide.
- Fire OS devices, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, 4K Plus and Fire TV Cube, installed with Downloader from the developer’s official source. See our Firestick guide.
Its Google Play listing says it isn’t optimised for touch devices such as phones or tablets, and there’s no version for Samsung or LG TVs, Apple TV or Windows; see TiviMate on other devices. It also can’t be installed on Fire TV Sticks running Vega OS (the 4K Select and the 2026 HD), because they only accept Amazon Appstore apps.
Free vs Premium
TiviMate installs free and plays live TV with its grid guide. A paid Premium upgrade unlocks further features. The developer doesn’t publish a fixed list of which features are free and which need Premium, and it can change, so check the Premium section of the app’s settings before you buy.
What the Google Play listing says the app can do, free or with Premium:
- M3U, Xtream Codes and Stalker portal playlists, and more than one playlist
- a grid TV guide (EPG)
- favourite channels, search and parental controls
- catch-up and recording
- multiview (several channels on one screen)
Two things are confirmed by the developer’s own listings:
- Premium unlocks app features only. It doesn’t include any channels and is separate from your IPTV subscription. It pays the app developer, not us.
- Devices without Google Play (such as Fire TV) are activated through the TiviMate Companion phone app, which also manages your activated devices.
Prices and the device limit are shown in the app and can change, so we don’t quote them here.
How to set up TiviMate
Install TiviMate
On an Android TV or Google TV box, install TiviMate IPTV Player from Google Play. On a Fire OS Fire TV device, follow our Firestick setup steps using the official download address.
Add a playlist
Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist. Select Xtream Codes login. It’s the best option, because it brings in live TV, the guide, films and series from one login.
Enter your details
Enter the server address exactly as sent, including http:// and the port, then Next. Enter your username and password, then Next. TiviMate checks the login and shows how many channels, films and series it found.
Name the playlist and finish
Give the playlist a name, such as “Home”, and select Done. TiviMate downloads the guide. The first time, this takes a minute or two on a large subscription.
Tidy the channel list
Open Settings → Playlists → [your playlist] → Manage groups and hide the categories you never watch. To add a favourite, press and hold OK on a channel (some favourites features may need Premium).
Set TiviMate to start with the device
In Settings → General, turn on Auto start on boot (the wording can vary by version) so the TV box opens straight into live TV, like a traditional set-top box. This option may need Premium.
TiviMate settings worth changing
- Guide update frequency. In Settings → EPG, set the guide to update daily so it never runs out.
- Channel switching. In Settings → Channels, choose whether up and down on the remote switches channel or moves through the list.
- Catch-up. Channels with catch-up show a symbol in the guide. Select a past programme to play it. Catch-up may need Premium, and your provider must offer it on that channel.
- Buffer size. In Settings → Playback, a larger buffer can smooth out a busy evening connection, at the cost of a slightly slower start.
- Frame-rate matching. In Settings → Playback, turning on AFR (automatic frame rate) makes films and sport play at their native rate, if your device supports it.
TiviMate troubleshooting
“Login failed” when adding the playlist
Check the server address includes http:// and the port, and that the username and password have no extra spaces. If you’re using an M3U link, make sure it was pasted in full. If your trial has ended, the login stops working.
The guide is empty or shows “No information”
In Settings → EPG, update the guide and make sure the source is ticked. Check the device’s time zone. Guides for some channels are simply not provided by the channel. See TV guide (EPG) problems.
New channels or films don’t appear
In Settings → Playlists, select your playlist and choose Update playlist. TiviMate also updates automatically on a schedule you can set there.
Playback freezes or buffers
Increase the buffer size in playback settings, then check your connection with our buffering checklist. An Ethernet cable on a box makes the biggest difference.
For anything else, TiviMate not working matches each symptom to its fix, and TiviMate error codes explains the numbered errors.
TiviMate vs other players
TiviMate is the best choice for live TV on Android TV and Fire OS. For phones, tablets and computers, where TiviMate doesn’t run, IPTV Smarters Pro is the simple alternative. On Samsung and LG TVs, see SmartOne IPTV. Compare them all on our IPTV apps page.
