MyTVOnline 4 on the Z12 series
MyTVOnline 4 was released on 30 August 2026 alongside the Z12 Ultra SE and Z12 Pro. It adds a customisable home screen, AI-powered recommendations and up to four user profiles with separate viewing histories, along with faster channel switching. It’s exclusive to the Z12 series: Z12 Ultra owners get it through the Software Update app, while Z11, Z10 and older models stay on their current version.
Set up your IPTV service
- Connect by Ethernet if your model has a port (every Z12 and Z11 model does; the Z mini doesn’t). See Wi-Fi vs Ethernet.
- Open MyTVOnline from the home screen.
- Add your service. Choose the type that matches what your provider sent:
- a portal: give your provider the MAC address MyTVOnline shows, then enter the portal address. See add a portal to MyTVOnline and what a MAC address login is;
- a playlist: enter your M3U link or Xtream Codes details.
- Let the channels and guide load, then set the guide to update automatically.
Catch-up and recording
Catch-up plays programmes your provider has already recorded on its servers, typically for 1 to 14 days depending on the provider. Channels that support it show a small red symbol next to their name. Open the guide with the EPG/Guide button, go back to a past programme and press OK. Formuler notes that catch-up works with portal services, not with plain M3U playlists, and only on channels your provider supports.
Recording needs a correctly formatted USB drive (the Z12 Ultra can also record internally):
- Press EPG/Guide on the remote to open the channel grid.
- Move to a future programme and press REC (or OK to set start and end times, duration and repeats).
- The box wakes from standby to record, so you can leave it in standby.
How much you can record depends on the drive’s size and the stream’s bitrate; an HD (720p) channel uses roughly 1.1 to 1.8 GB an hour, and Full HD 1.8 to 3.6 GB. Check your provider’s terms on recording.
Tips
- Frame rate: turn on auto frame rate in the box or player settings for smooth 25 and 50 fps UK channels.
- Remote: BT1 remotes pair over Bluetooth; if yours stops responding, see pairing a Formuler remote.
- Problems: see Formuler IPTV not working and Formuler error codes.
Formuler or another box?
Formulers are made for IPTV, with a player designed around live TV and features such as catch-up and scheduled recording built in. General-purpose devices such as the Nvidia Shield or Google TV Streamer offer broader streaming-app support. Formuler vs BuzzTV compares the two IPTV-focused brands, and the MyTVOnline guide covers the player itself.
