IPTV Smarters Pro is a media player for IPTV subscriptions, developed by WHMCS Smarters. Like every legitimate player, it contains no channels of its own. You add a subscription, and it organises it into live TV, films, series and catch-up with a simple, colourful interface. That simplicity is why so many people start with it.
It’s also the IPTV app most often copied. Several look-alike apps with near-identical names and icons have appeared in app stores, so the first job is making sure you install the real one.
Where to get the genuine IPTV Smarters Pro
The developer’s official website lists the current official downloads for each platform. Its store listings have changed several times, and at various points the app has been withdrawn from, or reappeared in, particular stores. Before installing any app called “Smarters”:
- Check the developer name on the store listing matches the developer on the official website.
- Prefer official links. On Fire TV and Android boxes without the app in their store, install from the download address published on the official website, never from a link in a video or forum.
- Look at the permissions. A video player needs network access. It doesn’t need your contacts, messages or location.
If you can’t find a genuine version for your device, don’t worry: TiviMate, SmartOne IPTV and the players in our app comparison all work with the same login.
What IPTV Smarters Pro does well
- A simple home screen with separate tiles for live TV, films, series and catch-up.
- Films and series organised by category, with artwork and plot information where the provider supplies it.
- Catch-up on channels that support it, from the TV guide.
- Multiple logins, so you can add more than one playlist and switch between them.
- Parental controls to lock categories with a PIN.
- External player support on Android, letting you play streams in VLC or MX Player if you prefer.
Its TV guide is a now-and-next style guide rather than a full grid. If you mainly watch live TV and want a traditional guide, TiviMate is the better fit on Android TV and Fire TV.
How to set up IPTV Smarters Pro
Install the app
Install the genuine app for your device, as described above. On a Fire OS Fire TV Stick, follow steps 1 to 4 of our Firestick setup guide using the developer’s official download address.
Choose “Login with Xtream Codes API”
Open the app and accept the terms. On the login screen, choose Login with Xtream Codes API. This is the best option because it loads live TV, films, series and the guide from one login.
Enter your details
Fill in the four fields exactly as in your welcome message:
- Any name: a label for this login, such as “Home TV”.
- Username and Password: case-sensitive, with no spaces before or after.
- URL: the server address, including
http://and the port, for examplehttp://server.example:8080.
Select Add user. If you’re on a phone, copy and paste each field from our message to avoid typing mistakes.
Wait for everything to download
The app downloads the channel list, films, series and guide. On a large subscription this takes a minute or two the first time. You’ll then see the home screen with its tiles.
Load the TV guide
Open Live TV. If the guide is empty, go to Settings → EPG (or the refresh icon on the Live TV screen) and select Install EPG or Refresh EPG, then wait for it to finish.
Set favourites and parental controls
Long-press a channel to add it to favourites. In Settings → Parental control, set a PIN and lock any categories you want to hide.
Using an M3U link instead
If you received an M3U playlist link rather than an Xtream Codes login, choose Load your playlist or file/URL on the login screen, select M3U URL, and paste the full link. Add the separate TV guide link in the app’s EPG settings. Read M3U playlists explained to understand the difference.
Getting the most out of IPTV Smarters
- Refresh the lists occasionally. Channel line-ups change. Use the refresh option on the Live TV, Movies or Series screens to pick up new content.
- Hide categories you don’t use so the Live TV list opens straight to what you watch.
- Change the player in Settings → Player selection if a channel stutters: switching between the built-in players, or to VLC on Android, can fix playback on some devices.
- Use catch-up from the guide for programmes you missed rather than recording on a device with little storage.
IPTV Smarters Pro troubleshooting
“Invalid username or password” or “Server not found”
Check the URL first: it must start with http:// and usually ends with a colon and a port number. Then check the username and password for capital letters and stray spaces. Pasting from our message fixes most cases. If your subscription or trial has ended, the login will stop working; message us to check.
Live TV works but films or series don’t appear
Use the refresh option on the Movies or Series screen. If they still don’t appear, remove the login and add it again, choosing Xtream Codes rather than M3U.
The guide is blank or out of date
Refresh the EPG in settings, and check your device’s time zone is correct. More fixes are in TV guide (EPG) problems.
Buffering or freezing
Try a different built-in player in Settings → Player selection, then work through the buffering and freezing checklist. Most buffering comes from Wi-Fi rather than the app.
The app won’t install on my Fire TV Stick
Your stick may run Vega OS, which can’t install apps from a link, or Amazon may have blocked the specific file you tried. Check your model in the Firestick guide and install from the official source only.
IPTV Smarters on each device
| Device | How to get it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fire TV Stick (Fire OS) | Downloader, using the official download address | Not possible on Vega OS sticks |
| Android TV box | Google Play where listed, or the official download | Works well with a remote; consider TiviMate for live TV |
| Android phone or tablet | Google Play where listed | Check the developer name carefully |
| iPhone, iPad and Apple TV | App Store: Smarters Player Lite, seller WHMCS SMARTERS | Look-alike apps from other publishers exist |
| Windows PC | Only from the developer’s official website, if it currently offers one | Store listings using the Smarters name come from various publishers; we couldn’t confirm a current official Windows version |
| Samsung and LG TVs | Varies by model and region | SmartOne IPTV is often the easier option |
IPTV Smarters settings worth knowing
The settings menu is short, but a few options make a real difference:
- Player selection. Choose between the built-in video players, or an external player such as VLC on Android. If a channel stutters or the sound drifts out of sync, switching player is the first thing to try.
- EPG timeshift. Moves the whole guide forward or back by whole hours. Leave it at zero unless your guide is consistently an hour out and your device’s time zone is already correct.
- Time format. Switch between 12-hour and 24-hour times in the guide.
- Parental control. Set a PIN and lock individual categories for live TV, films and series.
- Automation. Some versions can refresh channels and the guide automatically when the app starts, so new content appears without manual refreshing.
- Multi-screen. On larger screens, some versions let you watch several channels at once. Each extra stream uses a connection, so you need a plan with enough connections.
- External players. On Android, films and series can open in VLC or MX Player if you prefer their controls or subtitle handling.
IPTV Smarters vs TiviMate
| IPTV Smarters Pro | TiviMate | |
|---|---|---|
| Devices | Phones, tablets, TV devices, computers | Android TV and Fire OS only |
| Cost | Free on most platforms | Free, with a paid Premium upgrade |
| TV guide | Now and next | Full grid, like a set-top box |
| Films and series | A strong point | Available, but live TV comes first |

Many people use both: TiviMate on the living-room TV and Smarters on a phone or laptop, with the same login.
