Install the genuine app
- On the Apple TV, open the App Store and search for Smarters Player Lite.
- Check the seller is WHMCS SMARTERS. Many apps with “Smarters” in the name come from other sellers. See Smarters Player Lite explained.
- Select Get, then open the app.
The listing requires tvOS 12 or later. That’s far older than many current players: UHF needs tvOS 17 and IPTVX tvOS 16, so Player Lite is often the option on an older Apple TV.
Add your playlist
Smarters Player Lite plays M3U and JSON playlists from local or remote sources, according to its listing.
- Choose to add a playlist and enter your provider’s M3U link exactly as sent.
- Let the channels load, then the TV guide if your playlist includes one.

Apple TV settings that help
- Match content. Turn on matching of frame rate and dynamic range so UK channels at 25 and 50 fps play smoothly. See Apple TV match content.
- Use Ethernet if you can. The Apple TV 4K with 128 GB has a gigabit port; the Wi-Fi model doesn’t. See Wi-Fi or Ethernet for IPTV.
Premium
The UK listing showed one in-app purchase, Buy Premium Version, for £1.99 in September 2026. The listing doesn’t spell out what it adds, so check in the app first. It pays the developer for app features and includes no channels.
