How it relates to IPTV Smarters Pro
IPTV Smarters Pro is the name most people know from Android and Fire TV. On Apple devices, the same developer publishes Smarters Player Lite. Both are players: neither contains channels, and both need a playlist or login from your provider. See the IPTV Smarters Pro guide for the wider history, including its Google Play status.
The App Store listing describes Player Lite as a media player for M3U and JSON playlists, from local storage or remote sources. If your provider gave you Xtream Codes details (a server address, username and password) rather than a playlist link, you can build an M3U link from them with our Xtream Codes to M3U converter.
Which Apple devices it runs on
| Device | Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | iOS 15.6 or later | See Smarters on iPhone and iPad |
| iPad | iPadOS 15.6 or later | Same app as iPhone |
| Apple TV | tvOS 12 or later | Unusually low requirement, so it runs on older Apple TVs that newer players don’t support |
| Mac | macOS 12.5 on an Apple silicon (M1 or later) Mac | Not for Intel Macs |
| Apple Vision Pro | visionOS 1 or later |
The low tvOS requirement is Player Lite’s practical advantage: many modern players, such as UHF (tvOS 17) and IPTVX (tvOS 16), need a newer Apple TV system. See the best IPTV apps for Apple TV.
Free and Premium
Player Lite is free to download. The UK listing showed a single in-app purchase, Buy Premium Version, for £1.99 in September 2026. The listing doesn’t spell out what Premium changes, so check inside the app before buying. Like any player upgrade, it pays the developer for app features and doesn’t include any channels or subscription.
Spotting look-alikes
A search for “Smarters” on the App Store returns many apps from unrelated sellers, some with near-identical names and icons, for example apps called “IPTV: Smarters Player Lite” or “Smarters IPTV Player Pro” from other companies. Before installing:
- Open the app’s page and check the seller: it should be WHMCS SMARTERS.
- Be cautious of apps that ask you to subscribe before you’ve added your own playlist.
- Never install an app that offers channels before you add a subscription.
Set it up

- Mac: it’s in the Mac App Store for Macs with Apple silicon; see IPTV Smarters on Mac.
