Smart IPTV (SIPTV): how to upload your playlist and set it up

Smart IPTV is a lightweight player for Smart TVs. Instead of typing a login on the TV, you upload your playlist on the Smart IPTV website using your TV’s MAC address, then reload the app. It takes about five minutes.

Smart IPTV, often shortened to SIPTV, is one of the longest-running IPTV players for Smart TVs. It’s deliberately simple: a channel list, groups, a basic programme guide and a video player. It has no films library of its own and no clever extras, which is exactly why it runs smoothly on older and entry-level TVs.

The way you add your subscription is unusual. You don’t type anything on the TV. Instead, you upload your playlist on the Smart IPTV website, linked to your TV’s MAC address, and the app downloads it next time it opens.

Where Smart IPTV runs

  • Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen), from the Samsung app store where available. On some models and regions it isn’t listed, and the developer offers alternative installation instructions on its website. See our Samsung TV guide.
  • LG Smart TVs (webOS), from the LG Content Store in most countries. See Smart IPTV on LG TV and our LG TV guide.
  • Android TV and Fire OS devices, from Google Play or the official APK; see Smart IPTV on Fire TV and Android TV. On those devices TiviMate is usually the better player.

Cost

Smart IPTV includes a free trial period. After that, each TV or device needs a one-time activation, paid to the developer on its website. The activation is linked to the device’s MAC address, so it stays with that TV. Check the current price on the official website before you pay. It’s separate from your subscription with us. Smart IPTV activation explains the steps.

How to set up Smart IPTV

1

Install and open Smart IPTV on the TV

Search the TV’s app store for Smart IPTV and install it. When you open it, it shows the TV’s MAC address on screen. Take a photo of it with your phone.

2

Ask us for your playlist link

Tell us you’re using Smart IPTV when you request your trial or order. We’ll send an M3U playlist link in the format the app expects.

3

Open the upload page

On your phone or computer, go to the official Smart IPTV website and open its playlist upload page.

4

Enter the MAC address and playlist

Type the TV’s MAC address exactly as shown, then paste your M3U link into the URL field. Leave any optional fields blank unless we tell you otherwise. Confirm you’re not a robot and select Send.

5

Restart the app on the TV

Close Smart IPTV completely and open it again, or press the reload option. The channel list downloads, grouped into categories. If you see “No playlist”, repeat step 4 and restart once more.

6

Add the TV guide

If channels show no programme information, the guide may need adding separately. On the upload page, there’s an option for an EPG link; add the guide link we sent, send it again and restart the app.

Using Smart IPTV day to day

  • Change channel with the up and down buttons, and press OK to open the channel list.
  • Switch groups with left and right in the channel list to jump between categories.
  • Favourites: many versions let you mark favourites from the channel list using a coloured remote button. The on-screen help shows which.
  • Picture settings: the app’s settings let you choose the video player engine and aspect ratio if a channel looks stretched or stutters.

When to choose Smart IPTV, and when not to

Smart IPTV is a good choice if you want simple live TV on a Samsung or LG TV and don’t need a films library. If you want a richer guide, on-demand films and series, or an Xtream Codes login, SmartOne IPTV is a better Smart TV player. On Fire TV and Android TV, choose TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro instead.

Smart IPTV troubleshooting

“No playlist” after uploading

The most common cause is a MAC address typo. Compare every character on the website with the TV screen. Then send the playlist again and fully close and reopen the app. On some TVs, switching the TV off at the wall for a minute clears the app completely.

“Playlist is not valid” or channels won’t play

The link may be incomplete. Paste it again in full, including http://. If you typed it by hand, copy it from our message instead.

The app stopped working after the trial

The trial has ended and the TV needs activating on the developer’s website. That’s separate from your subscription; if your subscription has ended too, choose a plan to continue.

Buffering

Change the player engine in the app’s settings, then work through our buffering checklist. A cable to the TV often helps more than any setting.
