Smart IPTV

Smart IPTV on an LG TV

Smart IPTV is one of the longest-running IPTV players on LG TVs. On webOS 3.0 and later it installs from LG’s own app store; older NetCast and webOS 1.0–2.0 TVs have a separate, older version. As on every TV, you don’t type your playlist on the LG: you upload it on siptv.app against the ID the app shows.

Install it

  1. On the TV, press Home and open LG’s app store (Apps on newer models, LG Content Store on older ones).
  2. Search for Smart IPTV. Smart IPTV’s instructions say it’s in the store’s Entertainment category in your country.
  3. Select Install, then open it. The app shows its MAC address or device ID on screen: write it down exactly.

If your TV runs NetCast or webOS 1.0–2.0, siptv.app lists the older version 2.1.56 for those models. See IPTV on an LG TV to check which system you have.

Upload your playlist

  1. On a phone or computer, open the playlist upload page on siptv.app.
  2. Enter the MAC address or device ID exactly as the TV shows it. Smart IPTV notes that newer webOS versions use a device ID because the app can’t read the MAC address.
  3. Add your playlist as a link or file, set the guide options and send it.
  4. Press 0 on the remote, or restart the app, to load it.

Every option on the upload page is explained in upload a playlist to Smart IPTV. After the trial, activation is a one-time fee per TV; see Smart IPTV activation.

What plays, and what doesn’t

  • Streams: HTTP and HLS links play on webOS. UDP (multicast), RTP, RTMP and RTSP links don’t, according to the LG instructions.
  • Audio language: the app picks the stream’s audio language from the TV’s own Audio Language setting (first audio language), so set that to the language you want.

According to siptv.app, the current version is for webOS 3.0 and later. A separate version, 2.1.56, is listed for LG NetCast and webOS 1.0–2.0 TVs.

Why does Smart IPTV show a device ID instead of a MAC address on my LG?

Which streams play in Smart IPTV on LG?

Its LG instructions list HTTP and HLS streams as working on webOS, and UDP multicast, RTP, RTMP and RTSP as not working.

How do I reload my playlist on an LG TV?
