Setting up IPTV

- Install a player from Google Play: TiviMate, Televizo, Sparkle TV and Kodi are all there. See the best IPTV apps for Android TV.
- Add your login and TV guide. See how to set up IPTV on any device.
Settings that matter
- Frame-rate switching: makes 25 and 50 fps UK channels smooth. Many players can trigger it, and the Shield has its own setting.
- AI upscaling: sharpens HD channels on a 4K TV. It turns off when frame-rate switching changes the output, according to user reports, so choose for each use.
- Audio: set passthrough for a soundbar or receiver that decodes Dolby, or PCM for TV speakers.

Is it worth buying in 2026?
The Shield is older hardware, but it’s still fast for IPTV, and its software support has lasted far longer than most streaming devices. Newer alternatives such as the Google TV Streamer offer more storage at a lower price. For a comparison with Amazon’s best stick, see Nvidia Shield vs Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
