What Televizo is good at
Televizo keeps things simple. It suits people who want to add a playlist and start watching on a phone or tablet, and it also runs on Android TV devices. Its listed features include:
- Multiple playlists, so you can keep more than one source in the same app.
- TV guide (EPG) and catch-up, where your provider supports them.
- Chromecast, to send a channel from your phone to the TV.
- Sorting and search, favourites and a parental control playlist editor.
- Track selection for video, audio and subtitles.
A recent update added an “Only software” mode for audio and video processing, which is worth trying when a channel plays with a black screen or no sound on your device.
Set up Televizo
- Install Televizo - IPTV player from Google Play, and check the developer is Andrey Menscikov.
- Open it and add a new playlist: paste the M3U link from your provider and give it a name. See what an M3U link is.
- Add the TV guide address if your provider gave you a separate one. See how to add an EPG.
- Let the channels load, then mark favourites and hide groups you don’t use.
If you only have an Xtream Codes login (server, username and password), build an M3U link from it first; see Xtream Codes to M3U.
Settings worth changing
- Decoder: if a channel shows a black screen, freezes or has no sound, switch between hardware and software decoding, including the new software-only mode. See black screen on IPTV.
- Guide updates: refresh the guide after adding it, and again if programmes look out of date.
- Parental control: use the playlist editor to lock groups if children use the device.
Televizo or TiviMate?
On an Android TV or Fire OS device used mainly for live TV, TiviMate offers a fuller TV-style grid guide. Televizo’s strengths are that it’s simple, free to start and also designed for phones and tablets, where TiviMate doesn’t run. For phones, see IPTV on Android phones and tablets. See TiviMate vs Televizo for a side-by-side comparison.
