TiviMate settings to try
1. Switch the stream format
For Xtream Codes playlists, TiviMate can request channels as MPEG-TS or HLS. A channel that buffers in one format often plays smoothly in the other. The option is in the playlist’s settings in recent versions. See HLS vs MPEG-TS.
2. Increase the buffer size
TiviMate’s playback settings include a buffer size option in recent versions. A larger buffer holds more seconds of video, so a brief dip doesn’t stop the picture. It adds a moment to channel start-up.
3. Try another player engine
If a particular channel stutters or stops, try TiviMate’s alternative playback options, where your version offers them, and compare.
4. Turn on auto frame rate
Judder can be mistaken for buffering. Turning on frame-rate matching (in TiviMate or on the device) makes 25 and 50 fps UK channels smooth. See lagging and choppy playback.
Device checks
- Restart properly. Force-stop TiviMate, then restart the device.
- Clear TiviMate’s cache (not its data) in the device’s app settings, especially on 8 GB Fire TV Sticks. See Fire TV storage full.
- Keep the device cool and out from behind the TV.
Connection checks
- Test on mobile data. If a channel buffers on your Wi-Fi but not on your phone’s mobile data, the home network is the problem.
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet. See Wi-Fi vs Ethernet.
- Switch off any VPN to test. VPN servers add a detour and can be slower than your line.
When it’s the provider
If every channel buffers on every device and connection at the same time, especially at peak times, the provider’s servers are struggling. TiviMate can’t fix that. See how to stop IPTV buffering for the full routine and how to tell.
