Check how much space is free
Open SettingsMy Fire TVAboutStorage. It shows used and available space. Under about 1 GB free, expect slowdowns and failed installs.
Free space without losing anything
Clear app caches
- Go to SettingsApplicationsManage Installed Applications.
- Choose a large app, starting with your IPTV player, browsers and video apps.
- Select Clear cache. Don’t select Clear data unless you want to reset the app completely.
Delete old installation files
If you used Downloader, its Files section often holds installation files you no longer need. Delete them.
Uninstall apps you don’t use
In the same Manage Installed Applications list, choose each unused app and Uninstall.
Keep IPTV apps lean
- Load fewer TV guide days. Two or three days is enough for most people. See how to add an EPG.
- Hide channel groups you never watch. Smaller lists use less space and memory. See how to edit an IPTV playlist.
- Don’t record to the stick’s internal storage unless you have plenty of space. 8 GB fills quickly.
- Use one player. Two players with the same playlist keep two copies of everything.
If space keeps running out
Amazon’s specifications list 8 GB of storage for most sticks and 16 GB for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd gen) and the Fire TV Cube. If you constantly run out, the 16 GB models or an Android TV box with more storage will serve you better. See which Fire TV is best for IPTV.
