The same as a stick, mostly
A TV with Fire TV built in runs the same home screen, the same Amazon Appstore and the same settings as a Fire TV Stick. So installing an IPTV player works the same way:
- From the Amazon Appstore, if your player is there.
- From the developer, using the Downloader app, on Fire OS. Step by step: install an IPTV player on a Fire TV.

Check which software the TV runs
Amazon has moved some newer devices from Fire OS to Vega OS, which only installs apps from the Amazon Appstore. On a Vega OS device, a player you’d normally sideload won’t install. Check under SettingsMy Fire TVAbout: a Vega OS device shows a software version starting with “1.”, while Fire OS devices show a Fire OS version. What a Fire TV smart TV adds
- Freely. Everyone TV’s deal with Amazon put Freely into Fire TV smart TVs, while portable Fire TV devices such as sticks aren’t included. Freely streams the main UK channels over broadband in one guide, with no aerial. See Freely explained.
- AirPlay on some models. Amazon’s path is SettingsDisplay & SoundsAirPlay & HomeKit, and it notes that AirPlay isn’t available on all Fire TV smart TVs. See AirPlay IPTV to your TV.
- TV inputs. The TV’s own HDMI inputs and aerial tuner sit alongside the Fire TV apps.
FlatpanelsHD reported that Panasonic’s 2025 Fire TV models support AirPlay 2 but not Google Cast, so check before relying on Chromecast from a phone.
