No sound at all
- Check the obvious: TV volume and mute, soundbar power and input, and whether headphones or a Bluetooth speaker are connected.
- Run Amazon’s diagnostics. Open SettingsDisplay & SoundsAudio and Video Diagnostics, select Troubleshoot Audio/Video Issues, choose No Audio and follow the recommendations. The tool isn’t on every Fire TV model.
- Restart the Fire TV: hold Select and Play/Pause for about five seconds.
- Reconnect the HDMI directly to the TV, not through a switch.
The remote’s volume buttons don’t work
That’s Equipment Control, not the sound itself. Open SettingsEquipment ControlManage EquipmentTV and check the brand under Change TV matches your TV. See Firestick remote not working.
Sound out of sync
Open SettingsDisplay & SoundsAudioAV Sync Tuning. A ball bounces on screen: adjust until each bounce matches the sound. With a home cinema system, use Lip Sync Tuning instead. The slider isn’t available on all Fire TV smart TVs.
If only an IPTV player is out of sync, change the player’s video engine or decoder first: see audio out of sync in IPTV.
Only some IPTV channels are silent
This is the most common IPTV sound problem, and it’s usually the audio format, not the Fire TV:
- Switch the audio track. Most players let you pick another track (often a stereo one) from the playback menu.
- Change the player’s audio output. In the player’s settings, try switching audio passthrough off so the stick decodes the sound itself, or on if your soundbar handles Dolby.
- Try another player. Players handle surround formats differently.
Our no sound in IPTV guide has the details for each popular player.
