What Amazon says
From the Fire TV Stick 4K Max safety information:
- The stick may get hot during normal use. To reduce the effect, place it on a heat-resistant surface.
- If it’s hot to the touch, unplug the power and let it cool for a few minutes before handling it.
- Keep devices away from heat sources such as heaters, heater vents, radiators and stoves.
- Use only the accessories supplied with the device to power it.
Give it room to breathe
- Use the HDMI extender so the stick hangs away from the TV’s back panel, which runs warm.
- Don’t trap it behind a wall-mounted TV against a wall with no airflow, or inside a closed cabinet.
- Keep it away from heat, including the TV’s own vents, set-top boxes and radiators under the TV.
- Use the original power adapter in a wall socket. The wrong supply can cause instability that looks like overheating.
Signs heat is causing problems
- The stick restarts or freezes after long viewing sessions, but works after cooling down.
- Menus and apps become slower the longer it’s on.
- It works in winter and struggles in a hot room.
If that sounds familiar, fix the placement first. Then work through Firestick keeps restarting for the power and software checks. Buffering that isn’t linked to heat is almost always the connection: see Firestick buffering.
