Turn it on
- Open SettingsDisplay & SoundsDisplay.
- Check Video Resolution is set to Auto. Frame-rate matching needs it.
- Turn Match Original Frame Rate on.
Why UK viewers need it
| Content | Frame rate | At 60 Hz without matching | With matching |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK and European live TV and sport | 50 fps (or 25) | Regular judder, visible on pans and scrolling text | Switches to 50 Hz: smooth |
| Films | 24 fps | Uneven cadence on camera pans | Switches to 24 Hz where the TV supports it |
| US TV | 30 or 60 fps | Fine | Fine |
Make it work in IPTV apps
- The app must support it. Some IPTV players, such as TiviMate, have their own auto frame rate (AFR) option in the playback settings; turn it on there too.
- Expect a brief blank screen when a channel starts and the TV changes mode. That’s normal.
- If channels start slowly or the screen blanks on every zap, and it bothers you more than judder, leave the setting off and switch it on only for sport.
For choppy playback that isn’t judder, such as freezing or stuttering, see IPTV lagging and Firestick buffering.
