What works with what
| From | To a Fire TV Stick | To a Fire TV smart TV |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone or tablet | Miracast mirroring, if the phone supports it | Miracast mirroring |
| Windows PC | Miracast (Project to a wireless display) | Miracast |
| iPhone, iPad or Mac | Not documented by Amazon | AirPlay on some models |
Amazon’s note: if Enable Display Mirroring doesn’t appear in the Fire TV menu, mirroring isn’t compatible with that device.
Mirror from Android or Windows (Miracast)
- Connect the phone or PC and the Fire TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the Fire TV, open SettingsDisplay & SoundsEnable Display Mirroring.
- On the phone, start screen mirroring. It’s called different things by different makers, such as Smart View, Screen Cast or Screen mirroring. On Windows, use Project and connect to a wireless display.
- Choose the Fire TV and follow the on-screen steps.
Everything on your screen now appears on the TV. Press any button on the Fire TV remote to end mirroring. Alexa isn’t available while mirroring.
AirPlay on Fire TV smart TVs
On supported Fire TV smart TVs, open SettingsDisplay & SoundsAirPlay & HomeKit and follow the instructions. Amazon notes that AirPlay isn’t available on all Fire TV smart TVs. For iPhone mirroring in general, see AirPlay IPTV to your TV.
For IPTV, install the app instead
Mirroring copies your screen in real time over Wi-Fi, so live TV can stutter, the phone has to stay on, and picture quality drops. Installing an IPTV player on the stick itself plays the stream directly at full quality, with the remote. See install an IPTV player on Firestick.
