How they differ in use
- TiviMate is built around the grid guide and remote-control navigation. Its Play listing says it isn’t optimised for touch devices.
- iMPlayer describes itself as a customisable media player for phones and large screens, and publishes a separate mobile app (iMPlayer Mobile) for phones and tablets. Its App Store description lists catch-up, films and series (VOD), a full guide and a customisable interface.
Store descriptions change often, so check each listing for the current feature list before paying for an upgrade.
Which to pick
- Only Android TV or Fire TV at home: start with TiviMate. See TiviMate on Fire TV.
- A mix of Android TV, phones and Apple devices: iMPlayer lets everyone use the same app. See iMPlayer.
- Still unsure: add your login to both and compare channel switching and guide browsing on your own TV.
