The real difference: whose interface you get
With StbEmu, what you see is your provider’s portal: its menus, its guide and its film library, as a MAG box would show them. That’s ideal if you’re used to a MAG box, but it means the experience depends entirely on the provider.
With TiviMate, the portal (or playlist) is just a source of channels and guide data. You get TiviMate’s own interface, with its grid guide, favourites, catch-up, recording and multiview, whatever your provider uses.
Setting each up
- StbEmu: add a profile with the Portal URL, choose an STB model such as MAG 250, and give your provider the MAC address (most portals expect one starting
00:1A:79). See StbEmu setup. - TiviMate: add a playlist and choose Stalker portal for a portal login, or Xtream Codes or M3U if you have those. See add a playlist to TiviMate.
Either way, a portal login is tied to a MAC address registered with your provider; see MAC address for IPTV. If your provider can give you an Xtream Codes login instead, that’s usually simpler to use in any player; see Stalker portals explained.
