How a portal login works
- Your provider gives you a portal address. It looks like a web address, often ending in
/c/or/stalker_portal/c/. - Your device sends its MAC address, a hardware identifier, when it connects.
- The provider has linked that MAC address to your account, so the portal serves your channels, films and guide.
There’s no username or password to type on the TV. The MAC address is the login, which is simple on a set-top box but means the service is tied to one specific device.
Where you’ll meet portals
| Device or app | How it uses the portal |
|---|---|
| MAG set-top boxes (Infomir) | Built in: enter the portal address in system settings. See MAG box setup. |
| StbEmu on Android and Fire TV | Emulates a MAG box with a virtual MAC address you give the provider |
| Formuler boxes (MyTVOnline) | Portal is one of the supported login types |
| Smart STB on smart TVs and streaming devices | Emulates a set-top box with a virtual MAC address you give the provider |
| Some Smart TV and Android players | Offer a “MAC portal” or “Stalker” option alongside Xtream Codes and M3U |
Portal vs Xtream Codes vs M3U
| Portal (MAC) | Xtream Codes | M3U | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifies you by | Device MAC address | Username and password | Username and password in the link |
| Typing on the TV | Only the portal address | Server, username, password | One long link |
| Move to a new device | Provider must register the new MAC | Enter the same login | Enter the same link |
| Typical devices | MAG boxes, StbEmu, Formuler | Most modern apps | Most apps and players |
Portals are convenient on a dedicated box. For people who switch between devices, an Xtream Codes login is usually easier. See Xtream Codes login explained for how the two compare in practice.
Setting one up
- Find the device’s MAC address (on MAG boxes it’s printed on the label and shown in the system menu). Our MAC address guide shows where to find it on common devices.
- Send the MAC address to your provider and wait for confirmation that it’s registered.
- Enter the portal address exactly as given, including any path at the end.
- Restart the device or app and let the portal load.
If the portal doesn’t load, see MAG box errors for common messages such as “loading portal” and authentication failures.
