Set IPTV: upload your playlist by MAC address

Set IPTV, from SETSYSTEME, is a media player for Smart TVs and Android devices. You upload your own M3U playlist on its website against the TV’s MAC address, try it free for seven days, and then activate it for a fee. Its unusual strength is support for older Samsung TVs that don’t run Tizen.

When Set IPTV is worth a look

Set IPTV is one of the few players that documents support for older Samsung TVs that predate Tizen, the E, ES, F, H, HU, J4 and J52 series, with its own installation steps for them. On a newer Samsung or LG TV you have more choice; compare it with the players in the best IPTV apps for Samsung and for LG.

Set up Set IPTV

  1. Install Set IPTV on the TV, following the developer’s instructions for your model. Older non-Tizen Samsung TVs need the developer’s own installation steps.
  2. Open the app and note the MAC address it shows. See IPTV MAC addresses.
  3. On the developer’s website, upload your M3U playlist against that MAC address. With an Xtream Codes login, build an M3U link first; see Xtream Codes to M3U.
  4. Restart the app on the TV to load the channels.

Test your playlist during the seven days before paying for activation.

The two MAC addresses

The developer points out that every TV has two MAC addresses: one for Wi-Fi and one for Ethernet. If you upload your playlist while the TV is on Wi-Fi and later plug in a cable, the app uses the other MAC address and your list seems to disappear. Upload for the address the app is showing, or stick to one connection type.

If it doesn’t work

  • Playlist not showing: confirm the MAC address, re-upload and restart the app.
  • Channels won’t play: test the same M3U link in VLC. If it fails there too, the problem is the playlist or the service, not the player; see M3U playlist not working.
  • Slow on an older TV: large playlists strain old TV processors. Remove groups you don’t watch, or use a Fire TV Stick instead.

Alternatives

Net IPTV also supports older Samsung and LG TVs, Smart IPTV suits newer Samsung TVs, and SmartOne IPTV accepts Xtream Codes logins without converting them to M3U.

FAQ

Set IPTV questions

Is Set IPTV free?

It’s free for a 7-day test period, according to the developer. After that it needs a paid activation; check the current price on the developer’s website before paying.

Which TVs does Set IPTV support?

The developer lists Android TV, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen and older non-Tizen Samsung series (E, ES, F, H, HU, J4 and J52), TCL, Haier, Philips and Android tablets.

Why doesn’t my playlist appear after uploading?

Check that you uploaded it for the MAC address the app shows now. Each TV has two MAC addresses, one for Wi-Fi and one for Ethernet, so switching connection changes which one the app uses.

Does Set IPTV provide channels?

No. The developer states the media player is delivered without any content and doesn’t provide playlists.
