Legal ways to watch Pakistani TV in the UK
Official broadcaster apps
Pakistan’s major TV groups publish their own apps, listed on the UK App Store:
| App | Publisher | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| ARY Digital | ARY Services Limited | ARY’s entertainment channel and dramas |
| ARY News | ARY Services Limited | ARY’s news channel |
| ARY Plus | ARY Services Limited | ARY’s streaming service: dramas, originals and live content |
| Geo News Official | Interlink Multi Media | Geo’s news channel |
| Harpal Geo | Interlink Multi Media | Geo’s entertainment channel and dramas |
| Dunya News | National Communications Services | Dunya’s news channel |
Pakistani broadcasters also publish drama episodes on their official YouTube channels. For news, the official apps are usually the most reliable way to watch live.
One caution: the HUM TV app in the UK store, published by HUM Network, hadn’t been updated since 2021 when we checked, so check the broadcaster’s website for its current apps.
Pakistani streaming services
| App | Publisher | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tamasha | Pakistan Mobile Communications Ltd | Live TV, films and dramas |
| tapmad | Pi Pakistan | Live TV and sport; availability outside Pakistan depends on rights |
UK pay-TV add-ons
Some UK satellite, cable and IPTV platforms sell South Asian channel packs, which can include Pakistani channels. If you already have pay-TV, check your provider’s current line-up.
Cricket and other sport
Cricket rights are sold country by country. When Pakistan plays, a Pakistani app may show the match at home but block it in the UK, where a UK broadcaster holds the rights. That’s normal for licensed apps. Services that promise every match in the UK for a few pounds are almost always unlicensed.
You still need a UK TV licence
According to TV Licensing, you need a UK licence to watch or record live TV on any channel, including channels from outside the UK, on any device. On-demand viewing (other than BBC iPlayer) doesn’t need one. See IPTV and the TV licence.
Setting up Pakistani channels in an IPTV player
- Guide times. Pakistan doesn’t use daylight saving, so it’s five hours ahead of the UK in winter and four in summer. If listings jump by an hour when the UK clocks change, set the time shift with our EPG offset calculator.
- Urdu text. Urdu is written right to left. If channel names or guide text show as boxes or in the wrong order, update the app or try another player.
- Sound. If a channel plays silently, it’s often an audio format the device can’t decode; see no sound on IPTV.
Before you pay for Pakistani channels
- Start with the broadcasters’ own apps.
- Check the publisher name in the store: many apps use Pakistani channel names without being official.
- Be wary of “all channels plus live cricket” for a few pounds. See is IPTV legal?.
