How to open it
On a Samsung TV: Samsung says that on its TVs, Samsung TV Plus can start playing as soon as you turn the TV on. Otherwise, open it from the app bar at the bottom of the screen. It needs an internet connection.
On a Galaxy phone or tablet: search for Samsung TV Plus in the Galaxy Store or Google Play and install it. Samsung lists Android 11 or later.
What you get
A line-up of free channels across films, drama, news, sport and entertainment, plus films and shows on demand. Samsung notes that channels vary by country and are subject to change, and that adverts may appear.
Like Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus is a FAST service (free ad-supported streaming TV) with its own line-up of channels. For BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, use their own apps, which run on most recent Samsung TVs. See free internet TV in the UK.
Samsung TV Plus and IPTV apps
Samsung TV Plus is a closed service: it plays only Samsung’s own line-up. To watch a playlist or a subscription with your own login on a Samsung TV, you need an IPTV player from the Samsung store, set up separately. See IPTV on a Samsung TV.
The TV Licence
GOV.UK says you need a TV Licence to watch or record live TV on any channel or service; on-demand programmes on services other than BBC iPlayer don’t need one. If you’re unsure how that applies to a channel you watch, see do you need a TV Licence for IPTV or ask TV Licensing.
