Step 1: give your provider the MAC address
Portal services recognise the box by its MAC address, so the provider must register it before the portal will load. Find it on the label on the underside of the box, or in the system information screens, and send it exactly as shown, including the colons. IPTV MAC addresses explains why it matters.
Wait for confirmation that the MAC is registered before carrying on.
Step 2: enter the portal address
Infomir’s documentation places external portals under System settings, then Servers, then Portals.
- Press Setup or Settings on the remote to open the system settings. (If the box is stuck loading a portal, use the settings button shown on screen.)
- Open ServersPortals.
- In Portal 1 name, type any name, such as your provider’s name.
- In Portal 1 URL, enter the portal address exactly as your provider sent it, including
http://and any path at the end, such as/c/. - Save with OK.
Step 3: reload the portal
Go back to the main settings screen and restart the portal (the option may be called Restart portal or Reload portal, depending on the software version), or restart the box. It should load your provider’s interface.
Switching or adding a second portal
- Second portal: fill in Portal 2 name and Portal 2 URL. When both are set, the box can ask which one to load at start-up.
- More portals: Infomir’s documentation describes a Multiportal mode that can store up to eight.
- Changing provider: replace the Portal 1 URL, and give the new provider your MAC address.
Other settings worth checking
- Time zone and time server: the guide and catch-up depend on the correct time. See MAG box settings.
- Video output: match the resolution and refresh rate to your TV, 50 Hz for UK channels.
- Network: use Ethernet where you can; MAG boxes are typically wired devices.
If the portal won’t load, go to MAG box errors and fixes.
